Sifnos, Greece ©2019 Dimitris Giouvris

From May 31st to June 14th, 2020, join Lightroom Guy on their first ever photo tour in Greece. Two years in the making, this immersive photo tour will take you to a wide range of regions in Greece for off-the-beaten-track experiences, even in the midst of well-known locations. Our tour starts in Athens, proceeds to Meteora, Zagori, Sifnos, Milos and returns to Athens for our conclusion.

This Greece photo tour is guided by Athens native and professional photographer, Dimitris Giouvris and his local support team. Adding to the experience with private coaching, technical and creative support is Lightroom Guy, D.A.Wagner. At every location, you’ll have opportunities to expand your travel photography portfolio, gain new photography skills and learn post-production techniques that will transcend your expectations to create photos beyond ordinary. And, with every location, we’ll be taking in Greek culture with lots of great meals, visits to local artisans and cooking classes. But don’t let us stop you from shooting if that’s your pleasure. We’ve scheduled time for personal exploring and relaxing as well.

For bookings and enquiries, please register (no credit card information is required) and we will get back to you promptly with additional information on our Greece Photo Tour for 2020.

Itinerary Overview

You’ll arrive in Athens for our group dinner and get to know your travel partners and team leaders. The following day we’ll take off take off on a relaxing train ride and watch the city fade into the countryside as we travel to the UNESCO site of Meteora. We’ll be here for a few days to photograph the amazing rock formations and the Monasteries.

Ioannina and Zagori will be our next destination to capture the unique stone bridges of Kapetan Arkoudos, Kokkori, Lazaridi, Plakida and Kipoi, the rock pools and Papigo village. These are very special locations and so, in addition to our workshop time, we have set aside time for personal exploration and hiking. No need to rush.

We’ll leave the quiet of Meteora and Zagori, take some time to reflect on our past few days and travel to the island of Milos for a traditional Greek dinner at sunset. Here we’ll explore Milos island’s white washed small houses and walk between the anarchy built roads of Plaka, Klima fishing village, and Adamas. Milos is known for its incredible geology, tasteful local Greek dishes and the incredible views of the sea. Be prepared to eat well!

Milos island, one the the hidden jewels of the Aegean islands. An island that boasts 72 beaches, will be our first stop. Home of the most unique white stone beach formation, Sarakiniko beach in Milos, Greece. A volcanic island that we will explore for the next few days, taking photos in the characteristic white and blue small village streets. Some great sunset photos to be had from the castle that overlooks Plaka village, as well as a visit to a deserted sulphur mine.

A destination much unknown to everyone visiting Greece, in Milos we will have a chance to photograph the uniquely colorful, beautifully handcrafted waterfront homes called “Sirmata”, the catacombs of Milos and wander inside a second world war bomb shelter.

Our first experience on this leg of the tour will be a private cruise with our own skipper and hostess. Watching the sun go down, we’ll explore the island views from a unique off-shore perspective.

Continuing with lesser known Greek gems, we’ll ferry to the island of Sifnos. In this hidden jewel of the Aegean, we will embark on an exploration of traditional white and blue villages, meeting Sifnos’ natives and tasting locally grown food. This quiet island is noted for its long history of exceptional pottery.

Sifnos has long tradition of pottery making, supplying Greece and the Mediterranean region with ceramics since before written history. The rich deposits of clay are still excavated from the surrounding hills and the kilns are still fueled with wood. Here, we’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the craftspeople of traditional cycladic art in their pottery workshop.

Between exploring the whitewashed small villages of Sifnos, we will make our way to a traditional Greek farm. This experience will be as close as you can get to the rural countryside of the Aegean islands. Get ready to learn to cook, prepare and photograph Greek food! We’ll document our cooking process and completed Epicurian creations before sitting down and enjoying a well prepared meal we’ve created ourselves.

From sunrise to sunset, you will have plenty of time to explore and capture this ancient city from Dimitris’ magical (and sometimes secret!) viewing locations. From the Acropolis to the Temple of Olympian Zeus to the world-class Acropolis Museum, you’ll experience Athens like a real native.
